What fire protection equipment am I required to have inspected on an annual basis?


- Inspect all fire dampers and fire stop flaps. (
- Inspect disconnect switches for mechanical conditioning and ventilation. (
- Conduct Fire alarm drills in all buildings which have a fire alarm system. (
- Fire alarm system to be tested by a C.F.A.A. certified technician. (
- Check all fire alarm components including standby power batteries. (
- Remove caps on fire department connections and inspect for wear, rust or obstructions. (Standpipe Systems) (
- Test all standpipe hose valves. (
- Re-rack all standpipe fire hoses. (
- Inspect all exposed sprinkler system pipe hangers. (
- Check all sprinkler heads. (
- Inspect dry pipe valve priming level. (
- Remove caps on fire department connections and inspect for wear, rust or obstructions. (Sprinkler Systems) (
- Test water flow on wet sprinkler system, using remote test connection. (
- Trip test dry pipe trip system. (
- Conduct a main drain flow test of the sprinkler system water supply. (
- Inspect fire protection water supply tanks. (
- Inspect cathodic protection of fire protection water supply tanks. (
- Inspect all parts of the gravity tanks. (
- Test fire pump at full rated capacity. (
- Inspect all fire hydrants on private property. (
- Inspect all fire hydrant water flow. (
- Conduct general engine and generator maintenance & engine tune-ups for emergency generator sets. (

How often do I require my kitchen hood fire suppression system to be inspected?

NFPA commercial hood inspection requirements are designed to protect large and small food preparation facilities and required Semi-Annual Inspections of these facilities provides the security that equipment will operate immediately when needed. Systems must be inspected by a certified technician and fusible links must be changed.

Does OFS sell residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms?

OFS has fully licensed and factory trained technicians for all your commercial appliance and fire protection equipment needs. We currently service Central and Northern Ontario. Our head office and showroom is located in Barrie and a satellite office located in York Region.

Yes! We have a internal team that is able to estimate and install full systems to meet your Ontario Fire Code requirements. We are also a proud distributor of Notifier by Honeywell and have a 9000 sq ft warehouse stocked with all major fire alarm and life safety equipment parts.
